Latency 

Latency is the time it takes data packets to travel from one destination to another and back. It is measured in milliseconds(ms), and the lower it is, the better. A high latency could lead to delayed command executions, slow remote server operations, lagging video calls during team syncs, and delayed API response times during testing. 

Common causes of high latency include long distances between your device and servers, slower connection technology, and network congestion. 

Jitter 

Latency and jitter are often confused; however, jitter refers to the variation in latency. Frequent low or high variations in latency could create an inconsistent experience across various development applications. For example, if you’re a game developer testing a beta version, you could face screen freezes or characters immediately jumping across the screen.

Packet Loss

It is a major contributing factor to increased latency, as it amplifies the time data takes to reach its destination. 

Packet loss can lead to issues such as data corruption, synchronization failures, debugging challenges, and broken real-time streaming.
